This class is designed for adults who are interested in exploring acting, whether you're a complete beginner or someone returning to the craft after a break. It's perfect for those looking to build confidence in themselves and their abilities on stage while learning essential acting skills. By the end of the course, you'll participate in a student showcase, where you’ll have the chance to perform scenes you've been practicing throughout the class.
You'll learn how to create rich, believable characters, develop strong connections with fellow actors, and enhance your emotional range in performances. The class also includes practical tools for improving memorization, acing auditions, and much more. Whether you're looking to try acting for the first time or refresh your skills, this class provides a supportive and fun environment to grow as an actor!
Veronica Straight-Lingo has spent over 13 years as an Actor/Director/Designer/Improvisor in the Denver community. She has collaborated in dozens of productions across the Denver/Boulder region, including musical theatre, drama, comedy, improv and immersive experiences. Most recently she starred as Sister Mary Ignatius in Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All For You (The Three Leaches). Other favorite roles include: Olivia - Twelfth Night (The Three Leaches), Judy - Night of the Living Dead (The Bug Theatre), Wanda - The Best Day of Your Life (Vintage Theatre), Louise - The Fox on the Fairway (Longmont Theatre Company). Previous Directing credits include: The Pillowman (Miscreant Theatre Collective), Eleemosynary (Coal Creek Theatre of Louisville), Invaders from Planet 9 (Arts in the Open), Richard III (Lost & Found Productions), and Hidden Worlds and Strange Negotiations (Theater 29). She is a writer/performer for the new sketch comedy group, Character Coven. Veronica is also Executive Producer of Metro Arts on KGNU.
